How to Create Custom Branded Gif Stickers For Instagram

Canva has proven to be one of the most useful tools that you as a blogger or creator have at your fingertips! One of the ways you can make your designs stand out, even more, is by creating custom artworks like gifs that add an element of fun. In this Canva hack tutorial, I’ll be showing you how you can create custom branded gif stickers for Instagram.

This hack does require two parts!

  • The creating on your on brand Canva gif.
  • Removing the background of your give so that they appear as stickers you can add to your Instagram Stories.

You might be thinking to yourself but Why would you want to create your own custom gifs when there’s so many already available within Instagram. So let’s touch on why I think it would be beneficial for you.

Why would you want to use Gifs?

Creating your own gif stickers allows you to be more on brand. Gifs on Instagram are made by other creators and won’t always suit your own branding needs. Creating an overall brand aesthetic helps with brand ignition. It’s a lot easier than you think!

Do you need a Canva Pro Account?

No, with this can’t tutorial I’ll show you how to create the animation design that can be done even if you’re a free Canva user.

Stuck on what to create for your Instagram gif sticker? Here are a few Instagram gif stickers ideas 

  • CTA stickers (link in bio, sign up, read the blog post, new content, etc) 
  • Action stickers (reading, writing, watching) 
  • On brand elements
  • Key phrases you often use

Create Your Design

Firstly, you’ll need to create your designs. Get as creative as you want! 

  • Click on Create a design on the Canva homepage and find animated social media. This will allow you to change the frame speed.
  • Get creative! Add your elements and text. Make it to match your brand aesthetic.

Tip: Change up the design for each frame for example the element colours or the placement of the text.

Download Your Design

Before you download your design, make sure you’re happy with the flow of your gif. Change up the frame speed for each canvas to make it more unique. Now for the easy part… Once you’re happy with your gif design. Click on Download. Make sure your file type is gif.

Remove The Gif Background

Now that you have a kickass on brand gif you want a way for it to display as a sticker by being transparent. Here’s a little hack you can follow as Canva currently download allow you to download videos in a transparent format!

Go to https://onlinegiftools.com/remove-gif-background to remove the background and get a transparent gif sticker. Play around with the settings and download!  

Share Your Gifs

If you’re using a Macbook you can easily create your gifs on your computer and share them to your phone using airdrop. If not save them to dropbox or similar cloud storing platforms that allows you to access them on your phone.

 To share them in your Instagram Stories.

  • Open your photo app and click copy.

  • Go into your Instagram story. A sticker button will pop up, In case it doesn’t – you can paste and your gif will appear!
