You designed a beautiful email header in Canva. Looked perfect. Downloaded it as a PNG, uploaded it to Flodesk, realised the sizing was slightly off, went back to Canva, fixed it, downloaded it again, went back to Flodesk, re-uploaded it, and by the time you hit send, you had spent 40 minutes on one graphic, and the energy to write a good email had evaporated completely.

Sound familiar? That workflow is done. The Canva x Flodesk integration lets you browse, import, and edit your Canva designs directly inside the Flodesk builder — no downloading, no re-uploading, no tab-switching spiral. It was announced at Canva Create in April 2026, and for bloggers who use both tools, it is one of the most useful workflow updates in a long time.

In this post, you will learn exactly what the integration does, how to connect your accounts in under two minutes, the best ways to use it for on-brand Flodesk email design, and what to watch out for before you hit send. What the Canva x Flodesk Integration Actually Does

Before this integration existed, using Canva for email marketing meant a manual back-and-forth every single time you wanted a custom graphic in your email. Design in Canva. Export. Upload to Flodesk. Notice the typo. Go back to Canva. Fix it. Export again. Re-upload. It worked, but it was the kind of admin that quietly eats your creative energy.

The integration removes that entirely. Your Canva library is now accessible directly inside Flodesk. You can browse your existing designs, pull any of them into your email, and if you need to make a change, click “Edit in Canva” right from within the Flodesk builder. When you save in Canva, the updated version reflects in your email automatically. No re-uploading. No file management. No version confusion.

There are two ways to use it, and it’s worth understanding both before you start:

  • Import Canva graphics into your Flodesk email. This is the main use case. You design individual elements in Canva — headers, banners, buttons, dividers, product mockups — and pull them straight into your Flodesk layout. Your Flodesk email structure stays intact; you are just upgrading the visuals.
  • Design a full email in Canva and import it into Flodesk to send. Canva has a dedicated Email template format. You can design the entire email in Canva and push it to Flodesk with one click. This gives you more design flexibility, but there are a few things to set up correctly before you send — more on that below.

For most bloggers, option one is the more practical daily use. Option two is worth knowing for campaigns where you want full design control over every pixel.

How to Connect Canva and Flodesk in Under Two Minutes

The setup is genuinely simple. You only need to do this once, and everything stays connected after that.

1. Go to your Flodesk account settings

In Flodesk, click on your account in the top right corner and navigate to Settings. From there, select the Integrations tab. You will see Canva listed as an available integration.

2. Click Connect next to Canva

Click Connect. You will be prompted to log in to your Canva account and grant access. If you are already logged in, this takes about 30 seconds. Allow the permissions, and you are done.

Both accounts need to be active. The integration is free — it uses your existing Canva and Flodesk plans, no add-ons required.

3. Start adding Canva designs inside Flodesk

Open any email in Flodesk and click on an image placeholder. You will now see an option to add an image from Canva. Click it, browse your Canva library, and select the design you want. It drops straight into your email.

To edit a design you have already placed, click the image and select Edit in Canva. Make your changes in Canva, save, and click Return to Flodesk. The updated version appears automatically.

The Best Ways to Use the Integration for On-Brand Flodesk Email Design

Connecting the accounts is the easy part. Using the integration strategically is what actually makes your emails look more like your brand and less like a default template. Here are the four ways I think this is genuinely worth using.

The consistency point is worth dwelling on. When your emails look like your blog, your Pinterest, and your Instagram, you stop being a random sender in someone’s inbox and start being a recognisable brand. That recognition is what builds the kind of trust that converts — not just once, but over time.

Email is the only platform you actually own. It deserves to look as intentional as everything else you put out.

How to Design a Full Email in Canva and Send It Through Flodesk

If you want to use the new Canva to design the entire email rather than just the graphics, this workflow gives you the most design flexibility of anything Flodesk currently offers. But there are a few critical things to set up correctly before you push it through; your email either breaks or sends with the wrong links.

Use the correct Canva template format

To connect your Canva account to Flodesk, in Canva, search for Email in the templates section or select Email from the template format options. This is important. Regular newsletter templates or other Canva formats will not import correctly into Flodesk. You need the dedicated Email template type specifically.

Before you export to Flodesk

There are three things to sort before you push the design across:

  • Remove the address section that Canva includes at the bottom of email templates. Flodesk adds your own address automatically when it sends, so having both will look wrong.
  • Map your unsubscribe, preferences, and view-in-browser links to Flodesk’s action links before sharing. These legal and functional links need to point to Flodesk’s system, not a dead Canva placeholder.
  • Finish your design completely before exporting. Once the design is in Flodesk, you cannot edit the text or layout directly inside Flodesk. You will need to go back to Canva, edit, save, and re-sync. Factor this into your workflow so you are not making last-minute changes under pressure.

How to send it to Flodesk

Once your design is ready, click Share in the top right corner of Canva and search for Flodesk. You will have the option to create a new email from this design. Select that, and your design will appear in your Flodesk email drafts, ready to have your subject line, send settings, and audience applied.

Also worth knowing: Canva designs render as HTML when sent through Flodesk, which means your text is readable as actual text rather than as an image. This is genuinely good news for both accessibility and email deliverability.

Pretty Emails Are Not Enough on Their Own — Here Is What Else Matters

The Flodesk x Canva integration is a workflow upgrade and a design upgrade. It is not a strategy upgrade. Your emails can look flawless and still land in a quiet inbox if the content, the subject line, and the send cadence aren’t doing their job, while creating a brand that’s cohesive.

A few things that make the difference between emails that get opened and emails that get archived:

  • Your subject line does the selling before anyone sees the design. A beautiful email with a boring subject line is a beautiful email nobody opens. Write your subject line with as much attention as you give your email design.

  • One clear ask per email. If your email has five CTAs, it effectively has none. Decide what you want the reader to do — click to the blog post, grab the freebie, shop the template — and make that the only ask.
