But there are a few critical things to set up correctly before you push it through; your email either breaks or sends with the wrong links.
Use the correct Canva template format
To connect your Canva account to Flodesk, in Canva, search for Email in the templates section or select Email from the template format options. This is important. Regular newsletter templates or other Canva formats will not import correctly into Flodesk. You need the dedicated Email template type specifically.
Before you export to Flodesk
There are three things to sort before you push the design across:

- Remove the address section that Canva includes at the bottom of email templates. Flodesk adds your own address automatically when it sends, so having both will look wrong.
- Map your unsubscribe, preferences, and view-in-browser links to Flodesk’s action links before sharing. These legal and functional links need to point to Flodesk’s system, not a dead Canva placeholder.
- Finish your design completely before exporting. Once the design is in Flodesk, you cannot edit the text or layout directly inside Flodesk. You will need to go back to Canva, edit, save, and re-sync. Factor this into your workflow so you are not making last-minute changes under pressure.
How to send it to Flodesk
Once your design is ready, click Share in the top right corner of Canva and search for Flodesk. You will have the option to create a new email from this design.
