Ultimately, it’s about what works for you. We all are different and have different jobs and working environment, these are simply a few pointers that I find works for me.
Remote work me not be new to most of you. But, for a few who are used to the office environment, it can be quite an adjustment.
Wake Up At The Same Time
The worst thing you can do is attempt to work in bed. Believe me, this was something I did the first few weeks working from home and let’s say I wasn’t in the working mood. You’re more likely to want to go back to sleep! I’m not saying get up super early but, you want some time to wake up – get dressed and get your day started feeling refreshed and energised.
Avoid Going Online As Soon As You Awake
You need to set some boundaries! You heard me! speaking to myself – but this is what I learnt the hard way. You’re not doing anyone any favours by getting straight into work. You need to get into the right mindset before you tackle any work tasks. Make yourself a morning shake or meditate.
Get Those Endorphins Going
Surprisingly, I found that doing a bit of working out in the morning gave me more energy. I’ve just implemented this and it’s already made a difference in my morning routine. You want to get those endorphins going! Because we’re still in a pandemic you can’t leave the house and going on a morning scroll well at least if you’re in a high-risk area like I am I would much prefer doing some exercises in the comfort of my home. do some light yoga or find some workouts you can do on Youtube.
Listen To Music Or A Podcast
Listen to something that puts you in good mood – I have been listening to some podcasts in the morning to learn new things. Music also helps a great deal, you can listen to this while you tidy up your workspace. Find something you enjoy listening to and that sparks joy to your life. This will set yourself in a good mood before you get your work day started.
Have a Dedicated Workspace
Nothing new here, but having a dedicated, clean workspace will help you get more done. No working from the couch or bed, this will make you feel sluggish and unmotivated. Your desk will help put you in work mode or at least it does for me.
Set Your Goals For The Day
Great idea you list all the top priorities you need to get done for the day, focus on the goals that are important and more urgent. I find that this helps with productivity and knowing exactly what needs to get done before the end of the day.
