Canva vs Crello | Which Graphic Design Software is better

Online graphic designs tools are our saviours when it comes to creating branded artwork for the various social media platforms we use. As a blogger, you are constantly creating graphics for Instagram stories, Facebook banners and so much more. So finding a graphic tool that works for you is crucial. There are so many options out there so where do you start? Today I will be compared to similar design software tools Canva vs Crello: Which Graphic Design Software is better? Well, in my opinion…

Crello is a relatively new online graphic tool, developed by Deposit photos, a microstock photo agency based in Florida, US. If you compare the interface of the two, you will nearly find no differences. So do with the features. They both have very similar features.

The most stand out difference is that Canva uses a freemium business model. There are some restrictions if you stick to your free account.

User Interface

Both creator interfaces are quite similar. The difference comes in when you use the editor. Both are easy to use. Both offers remade fonts combinations and unlike Canva, Crello allows you to upload fonts on a FREE plan wherewith Canva you need to be signed up to Pro version to upload your own. Another feature that is free on Crello is the ability to resize your images. This again is only available on a paid version of Canva. The resizing tool is extremely useful when you want to use the same graphic for multiple platforms.

Features and Capabilities

Both tools offer thousands of premade templates that you can make use of. Crello does offer you to animate your artwork.

The best thing about Crello is that you can use all of the available features for free. You will only need to pay if you want to use the paid images. Meanwhile, Canva adopts a freemium business model. Not all of the features can be used for free. For instance, free account users cannot resize designs or upload custom fonts for the brand. Free account users are only allowed to access 8,000 templates, compared to about 300,000 for premium users.

Design elements

Both Canva and Crello allows you to add additional elements. Canva offers 7 elements you can add to your design; photos, grids, frames, shapes, lines, illustrations, icons and charts. Whereas on Crello, the element is called an object. In addition to photos, you can also add other elements like shapes, icons, illustrations, lines, borders, stickers and frames. Both of them offers free stock images you can use.

File Manager

When working on tons of graphics, both tools offer an option to save your designs and elements in graphics. It’s an easy way to organise everything.

Crello allows you to create many folders. Canva also has a file manager, but with very tight restrictions for a free account. Free account users are only allowed to create the maximum of two folders, compared to unlimited folders for premium users.

Conclusion

Both Crello and Canva are amazing tools to design graphics. The ready-made templates are perfect for anyone to use, even if you have a poor design skill. They both offer similar features to chose from.

If you are working in teams and make use of stock images, then Canva would be the better option. Canva offers way more stock photos and in my opinion, has a wider selection. Where are many offered on Crello you have to pay for which can end up being pricer to use?

If you want to make use of tools like better file manager, free features like resize, animate which you would normally only have on the pro version of Canva then Crello would be your choice.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either of these two. I have been using both for certain options and they are extremely helpful when it comes to creating graphics, easily.

Overall, I would say its a draw – both lacks in certain areas. They are both amazing platforms! I use Canva a lot more as they offer more Free templates and photos then Crello does and that is the core features I need. Because I am on a pro version on Canva already I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything.

I have never heard of Crello! the moment I started reading your post, I didn’t even get to the end, and all I could think is “omg I need an account from this!”. The only main difference I noticed is that you can’t create a “brand” folder like in canva. I definitely still have to play a little more with crello, but thank you so much for the recommendation! xxx
